Refugee Family Volunteering
When refugee families come to Canada, they typically don’t know anybody; they have no idea how to handle the legal process of claiming refugee status and they feel alone and out of place.
At JHC, we come alongside them and support them as they resettle. We want to be friends and share our lives and beliefs with them.
There are several practical ways to become involved. Volunteers can help a refugee family with orientation into the neighbourhood (supermarket, thrift store, parks and library), have a meal together, tutor them in ESL or take them sightseeing around Metro Vancouver.
Help us welcome our refugee families!
