The Welcome Table
Where belonging begins
For many refugee claimant families, the journey from displacement to belonging begins with something simple: a place to gather, share a meal, and begin again.
The Welcome Table is Journey Home Community’s signature initiative—bringing together business leaders, community members, and partners who want to play a meaningful role in that journey.
Through this event, organizations have the opportunity to support practical, local impact—helping families access safe housing, settlement support, and a community where they can truly belong.
Why The Welcome Table Matters
Refugee claimant families arrive in Metro Vancouver seeking safety—but many arrive without reliable access to food, resources, or support.
In their first weeks, families often face food insecurity alongside the stress of navigating unfamiliar systems and uncertainty about the future. A shared meal becomes more than nourishment—it becomes reassurance, dignity, and a first step toward belonging.
For over 20 years, Journey Home Community has walked alongside families during these critical early months, providing housing, settlement support, and relational care. Each year, hundreds of individuals find stability through this work.
Through The Welcome Table, we mobilize community support to meet these immediate needs—providing grocery gift cards that offer choice, familiarity, and dignity during a time of transition.
As a sponsor, your organization plays a direct role in making this possible—helping ensure families are supported from their very first days in our community.
Who We Are
At Journey Home Community, we walk alongside refugee claimant families as they navigate their first steps in Canada—providing transitional housing, settlement support, and a relational community.
For over 20 years, we’ve supported families as they move from uncertainty toward stability and belonging—helping them access safe housing, build connections, and navigate complex systems with dignity.
Rooted in compassion, we are committed to creating communities where people are welcomed, supported, and able to move forward.
The Welcome Table is one way this work comes to life—and an opportunity for your organization to be part of it

Your Role in the Story
When you become a Welcome Table sponsor, your organization plays a direct role in helping refugee claimant families take their first steps toward stability and belonging.
You join a network of partners who:
Ensure families have access to food and essential support during their most vulnerable weeks
Create meaningful moments of dignity, connection, and belonging
Contribute to long-term stability for families and children
Demonstrate visible leadership in community impact and inclusion
Sponsorship also provides meaningful opportunities to engage your team, align your brand with a trusted local organization, and be recognized as a leader in supporting refugee families in our community.
This is not transactional sponsorship—it is an invitation to draw alongside families arriving with few resources and fewer options, offering them community and care.
